2014 Chilly Chili Fly-In Review

What was billed as a fly-in scheduled “on the coldest day of the year” turned out to be a “warm” event in every sense of the word. First, the weather was absolutely glorious. The morning started a little cloudy and cool but by mid-day, the sun broke thru and everyone started taking off their jackets. Over ninety airplanes arrived before lunch and more arrived later in the day. As usual, the Triple Tree tower staff handled the arrivals beautifully and the ground crew made sure everyone was parked safely. The Triple Tree buses brought over two hundred guests to the hangar where they enjoyed a great chili meal. The surprise of the day was that there were chilis of different “heat” available along with jalapeño cornbread and corn chips. Cookies and brownies were the perfect desert to finish off a great lunch.  The guests certainly enjoyed the flying, the hospitality of the Triple Tree volunteers, the food, meeting up with old and new friends and most of all, the incredible beauty of Triple Tree.
The Triple Tree staff and volunteers would like to say “thanks” to all of the pilots and their guests that came to this inaugural “Chilly Chili.” It was a resounding success and we are sure it will now be annual event.  We truly love to see your beautiful aircraft arriving overhead and it’s our pleasure to personally welcome each arrival.
Lastly, we would like to say “thanks” to the Triple Tree staff and volunteers. Your dedication, hard work and yes, love for Triple Tree, make these events really something special.
